IBERDROLA continues reaping awards and recognition for its firm commitment to defending the corporate interests of its 600,000+ shareholders.
The Good Governance and Stockholders Forum, created by consultancy firm Atrevia - formerly Inforpress - and the IESE Business School, have awarded IBERDROLA the prize for Best Shareholder Outreach Initiative among Spanish companies. The jury for the third edition of the Forum Awards acknowledged the company's efforts, its commitment to transparency and direct contact with shareholders, and the initiatives implemented to reach out to that audience.
The award was accepted by Ignacio Cuenca, Director of Investor Relations, who confirmed that “IBERDROLA's shareholders are at the core of the company's strategy and corporate governance system”, which is updated and enhanced on an ongoing basis, “including the best practices worldwide”. Ignacio Cuenca further explained that "this is the context for our Shareholder Engagement Policy, which establishes new channels for our shareholders to take part in the company's affairs, so that they perceive IBERDROLA to be what it really is: their company".
The Shareholder Engagement Policy [PDF] is the embodiment of IBERDROLA's pledge to dialogue, proximity and actions favouring shareholders, and was approved by the Board of Directors this part 25 March.
Through the presented project, IBERDROLA seeks to achieve ongoing, two-way communication. It has therefore undertaken this initiative whose main beneficiaries are minority shareholders. In addition to holding the General Shareholders Meeting within the framework of Shareholder Day, thereby allowing attendees to have direct, informal contact with various directors, the company is to set up telematic meetings through its interactive OLS - On Line Shareholders system.
This latest award is in addition to the Euroshareholders award for the best initiative in favour of minority shareholders, given by the Spanish Association of Minority Shareholders of Listed Companies (AEMEC) and accepted by the Chairman of IBERDROLA, Ignacio Galán, in May 2015.
The IBERDROLA Group provides effective response and service to all investors who have deposited their trust in our stock through its Shareholders' office, the Shareholder's Club and the Investor Relations department. They also have access to the Shareholders' Ethics Mailbox and the interactive On Line Shareholders (OLS) system for submitting queries, either confidentially or openly.
These channels are an essential part of the IBERDROLA policy, which seeks to establish a personal and lasting relationship with its shareholders, based on constant attention to the accuracy and reliability of all information provided.
