Air conditioning can use up to 10% of your home's total energy consumption
Would you like to learn some tricks to keep this from affecting your bill too much?
Enjoy a cool summer... and save money! Switch off your air conditioning when there is no one at home or in the room where it is on: it only takes a few minutes to get the room to the temperature you want. 
It just takes a few minutes to renew the air in your home Air the house when it is cooler outside than indoors (early morning and at night), opening windows at opposite ends of the house to create air currents. 
By selecting a suitable temperature, you will use less energy A temperature of 26°C in the summer is comfortable, our body does not need a lower temperature to feel comfortable. For each degree of temperature less, your air conditioning consumes between 4% and 6% more energy. 
Keep your thermostat away from heat Install the thermostat or keep the remote control (if it has a built-in thermostat) away from heat sources and direct sunlight. 
Insulate your home from direct sunlight and save money You can save up to 30% on your air conditioning bill by fitting awnings and closing blinds to stop hot air from entering the home, and by insulating walls and roofs properly. 
Heating
Proper boiler maintenance saves you money Keep your boiler in good condition and you will save up to 22% on your gas bills. 
Do not heat empty space Do not heat rooms that are not used and, when away for a long period, turn off the heating. 
Use blinds to make the most of the sunlight and conserve heat Raise the blinds during the day. The sun provides light and heating for your home. In the evening, close the curtains and lower the blinds to reduce heat loss. Only 10 minutes suffice to air a room completely. 
A temperature for every room Each area in the home needs a heating temperature and it is important to set the right temperature. Water
Choose the most efficient taps Use low-flow shower heads, mixer taps and flow limiters to save up to 50% on water usage. 
Close the tap while brushing your teeth Do not let the water run while shaving and brushing your teeth. You can save up to 10 litres of water. 
Don't waste a single drop Avoid dripping and leaking taps. A simple drip from your washbasin tap loses around 100 litres of water every month. 
Installing tap aerators will help conserve water There are devices called diffusers or aerators that you can fit on taps. They add pressurised air to the water coming out of the tap and thus reduce the water volume by over 50%, though you barely notice the difference. 
Don't waste water and you will save money Have a shower instead of a bath and only turn on the tap when necessary. A shower uses 75% less water and energy than a bath. Lighting
Keep all lighting elements clean Keep your lamps and lampshades clean and you will increase luminosity without increasing power. LED bulbs consume 5 times less energy and last approximately 8 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. 
Take advantage of the sunlight Whenever possible, make the most use of natural light. Only turn on the light when necessary. 
Turn off the lights when you are not there Do not leave lights on in empty rooms. You are wasting energy. 
Light colours are more efficient Use light colours on walls and ceilings to make better use of natural light and reduce the use of artificial lighting. 
Start saving energy with LED bulbs When you need to change a light bulb, replace your traditional ones with energy efficient or LED bulbs. Domestic appliances
The bigger the load, the lower the cost Attempt to only use the washing when it is fully loaded and with low-temperature programmes (cold wash or at 30°C) when clothing is not excessively soiled. 
Hang out clothing to dry in good weather Driers consume an enormous amount of energy with every use (more than double the energy of the washing machine). Whenever you can and particularly in the summer, hang your clothing out to dry since it will only take a few hours. 
A dishwasher makes life easier and saves energy Washing up by hand uses 40% more energy than a dishwasher. 
Don't let the cold escape! Keep the fridge and freezer doors open for the shortest possible time and make sure they close properly. Make sure that the wall behind the fridge is clean and well ventilated. 
Shared consumption means less consumption Buy a power strip –an extension lead where you can plug in more than one device– with an on/off button. That way you can switch off several devices at once, thus avoiding unnecessary consumption. Kitchen
Cooking with the microwave will reduce your energy consumption Microwaves save between 60% and 70% compared to conventional ovens. 
Cook efficiently Use pots and pans whose base fits the cooking area snugly and try using a pressure cooker and little water. 
Let food cool down before putting it in the fridge Never put hot food in a fridge or freezer. Leaving it to cool first will save energy. 
Defrost food in the fridge By defrosting food inside the fridge, we make use of the energy that was needed to freeze it. 
Get the most from your oven Use the oven timer and only open the door when necessary. Every time you open the oven door, you lose 20% of the heat inside. Help make the world greener

Take public transport (underground, bus, tram, train, etc.) 
Drive at lower revolutions per minute and switch off your car's engine when stopping for longer than 2 minutes. 
Take the train (less emissions per passenger and kilometre). 
Ride your bicycle for short distances, since it produces no pollution and is better for your health.
