The IBERDROLA Bus welcomed 26,344 visitors in the first six months of the year. The company’s green machine toured some 30 towns throughout Spain during the first six months of the year.
Many different groups have climbed aboard the IBERDROLA Bus: educational and training centres, cultural institutions, the media, business groups and consumer associations.
In this time over 5,000 people from 270 different groups, including people with disabilities, housewives, cultural associations and pensioners have climbed aboard the IBERDROLA Bus while some 1,500 group employees have also visited it.
IBERDROLA launched its 2009 Environment Campaign in February aimed at encouraging its customers and society in general to become committed to sustainable development, one of the company’s distinguishing features.
The IBERDROLA Bus has been touring Spain since 2005 as a means of strengthening its ties with society, particularly in the autonomous regions where it carries out its activity. Since then the bus has visited over 180 towns and cities.
Inside, the bus is equipped with different audiovisual tools so visitors can take part in a number of interactive activities aimed at raising their awareness about responsible energy use.
IBERDROLA has installed a 60” plasma screen, 3D image viewers, a video-DVD player and hi-fi music system to show news and educational films about the environment and renewable energies.
The IBERDROLA Bus also has five computers with internet connection, a photocopier, a scanner and a printer. This way, participants can consult content about environment tips and take part in educational games.
One of the highlights of the activities organised on the IBERDROLA Bus is The Green Challenge, consisting of a number of questions where participants can demonstrate their knowledge of alternative energies.
Anyone who visits the IBERDROLA Bus can pick up practical guides about energy use and informational CDs, as well as seeds for planting, kites, balloons, pens and note pads.
The start of the IBERDROLA Bus’ 2009 Environment Campaign is reflective of the company’s commitment to sustainable development and the environment.
This commitment to sustainability has been broadly recognised. Specifically, IBERDROLA was designated the top utility within the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) in 2008 and was ranked as one of the most sustainable companies in 2008 by the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.
