To the Workforce

IBERDROLA’s Board of Directors has approved the Policy of Corporate Social Responsibility to reflect the Company’s commitment to human and labour rights.  Among other issues, it establishes the following principles:

  • To respect all human rights and particularly those whose infringement debase workers, and to reject child labour and forced labour.
  • To develop a favourable labour relations framework based on equal opportunities, non-discrimination and respect for diversity which fosters a safe and healthy environment that facilitates communication with the workforce.

Reconciliation and training

IBERDROLA is a leader in balancing family and professional life. We have been granted the Family-Responsible Company certificate of Fundación + Familia(*), which has been awarded in 2012 for three consecutive years with de top rating B+ Pro-active Company for its commitment to work-life balance and equality.

Aware of the difficulties faced by the professionals who have to find a balance between work and looking after the children, IBERDROLA, S.A. and the subsidiaries that have signed the V Collective Bargaining Agreement want to contribute to balancing both aspects with a successful professional career, and the Company has implemented a policy in support of motherhood and family that goes beyond the rights recognised by Spanish law.

IBERDROLA has strengthened its leadership in achieving balance between family and professional life, being the first Ibex-35 company that has implemented a working day with no lunch break all year round.

In adition to this, in the year 2009, IBERDROLA approved the Group’s equality plan in a bid to promote the adherence to and effective application of the universal principle of gender equality, implemented over the years 2010 and 2011.

Aware of the importance of training for the employees, in 2011 the IBERDROLA Group devoted more than 1,200,000 hours to the various training programmes implemented in the geographic areas where our Company operates.

International scale

In December 2010, IBERDROLA implemented a new organisational model in order to create one single global corporation and integrate all the business areas. The new organisational structure adapts the Company to the needs of the various countries and provides a better response to the Company’s international focus. This organisational model was consolidated in 2011 by developing and integrating all the business areas globally.

In order to promote the development of this global organisational model, the International Mobility Plan (Glocal) was approved and implemented in 2008. This Plan establishes a common framework for action for all the Group companies, promoting employee mobility between countries.

Moreover, the Management School at the IBERDROLA Campus has become an international point of exchange for knowledge, experiences and best practices, disseminating the corporate culture in line with the Group’s growing international presence.

In addition, 2011 saw the launch of the OneHR project, aimed at consolidating the Human Resources function and team globally, by systematizing and unifying this area’s model and processes based on a common information system, SAP.
