Occupational Safety and Health

The health and safety of our employees is an indispensable goal of IBERDROLA. In order to tend to zero accidents, we have an occupational risk prevention plan established in Spain, which is based on:

  • The integration of preventive criteria at all levels in the organisation.
  • Training and social involvement; ensuring that all workers receive sufficient and appropriate training to carry out their particular jobs.
  • Procurement of the adequate protective measures for human mediums and appropriate materials.
  • An increase in preventive monitoring of contracted work, in coordination with contractors, subcontractors and freelance workers.

The majority of companies in Grupo IBERDROLA perform preventive health monitoring on their personnel. The medical services themselves are responsible for monitoring employee health by conducting regular medical checks, together with health and vaccination campaigns to prevent specific pathologies, as well as furnishing medical attention during the work day.

Currently, companies in Grupo IBERDROLA run programmes entailing education, training, advice, prevention and risk control. For instance, courses were given for Civil Protection units (fire-fighters, police, etc.); the magazine “Wellbeing” is published, with content dedicated to health risk prevention for employees and their families; campaigns have been successfully run against tobacco, on diabetes prevention, obesity, promotion of athletic participation and a healthy diet, as well as informational campaigns concerning HIV prevention and treatment.
