IBERDROLA has signed a wind farm maintenance contract with the consortium made up of General Electric and Spain’s Tamoin Energías Renovables for nearly 400 megawatts (MW) in Spain.
The three-year renewable contract, with a possible two year extension, covers predictive and preventative maintenance of 310 General Electric wind turbines at nine of IBERDROLA’s wind farms in Spain, namely the
Cuesta Colorada, Cerro Calderón, Cerro Palo, Muela 1, Maza, Calleja, Isabela, Sierra Quemada and Gavilanes facilities, located in the Spanish provinces of Murcia, Cuenca and Albacete.
Under this agreement, the General Electric-Tamoin Energías Renovables consortium will oversee maintenance activities, guaranteeing the strict levels of availability and response times required by IBERDROLA Group.
Wind farm maintenance is among IBERDROLA’s top priorities. As global leader in wind power, the company demands high levels of efficiency that are within the reach of few industry players.
In the context of the maintenance contract renovation process carried out by IBERDROLA in the last few months, which includes agreements with Gamesa and Tamoin, this is the largest wind farm maintenance agreement signed to date by General Electric in Europe.
Moreover, this deal consolidates Tamoin as one of IBERDROLA’s main service providers, having conducted maintenance on the company’s wind farms, biomass plants and other renewable facilities for over 20 years now.
