IBERDROLA congratulates city of Valencia for its designation as host of 2009 America’s Cup race

  • To Hold a Ceremony in Valencia this Saturday with Theme: “Among Us All… the Challenge Continues”
  • After the success of the Desafío Español (“Spanish Challenge”) in this year’s 32nd America’s Cup, IBERDROLA will sponsor it again in the next race, regarded as the most prestigious sailing event in the world

IBERDROLA has congratulated the city of Valencia for its designation as host of the 33rd America’s Cup yacht race in 2009. In a statement, the company credited the Spanish government, the regional Valencia government, and the Valencia city council for the success of this year’s event, which was held for the first time in the coastal waters of this Mediterranean Spanish city.

IBERDROLA sponsored a boat, the Desafío Español (“Spanish Challenge”), which reached the semi-finals in this year’s race, and the company now plans to enter it in the 2009 event, to be held at the same venue.

With this in mind it will hold a ceremony on the Malvarrosa beach in Valencia this Saturday, with the theme “Among Us All… The Challenge Continues.”
