IBERDROLA IS RATED THE WORLD’S MOST SUSTAINABLE POWER COMPANY

  • The Company has been included for the eleventh consecutive year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

IBERDROLA is the top-ranked power company in the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World 2011 index, in which it occupies 39th position. This is up 16 positions from last year, when it ranked 55th.

This prestigious international ranking, drawn up by the specialist corporate social responsibility publication Corporate Knights, assesses various aspects of the world’s leading companies, including transparency, the sustainable use of resources, innovation capacity and criteria relating to social responsibility and corporate governance.

To select the components of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World 2011 companies from every sector in 22 countries that show the greatest capacity to manage environmental and social risks and opportunities and those risk and opportunities facing them in the area of corporate governance were studied closely.

The Company has also been included in every edition of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index since its creation in 1999, endorsing the recognition of the Group's commitment to sustainability by the international community of analysts and investors.

IBERDROLA has become a global benchmark as the first and only Spanish power company to be included in the prestigious FTSE4Good 2010 sustainability index, having fulfilled the requirements of the organisation’s committee in relation to nuclear energy. Especially rated by the committee were the Company's safety and waste management policies as well as its management systems.
