At IBERDROLA we put all our energy to live in a fairer, more solidary, more sustainable and more environmentally-friendly world.
Our support and sponsorship activities are designed to attain these goals, assigning priorities to those which assume the value of cooperation, sport and culture distribution as a means to achieve them.
Some of the initiatives IBERDROLA has been recently involved into are:
At IBERDROLA we have set ourselves an ambitious environmental goal: cutting CO2 emissions intensity to below 150 grams per kWh in 2030, 50% lower than the company's specific emissions in 2007. This target is in line with our commitment to sustainable development and the fight against climate change. In December 2015 we attended the climate change summit in Paris (COP21) to highlight our contribution and the solution of power companies as a whole to global warming. #JUST2CHALLENGE tells the story of IBERDROLA´s journey and the whole of society towards a better world where global warming is history.
IBERDROLA develops its Corporate Volunteer programme since 2006. The participation of our employees in social projects around the world has helped create a global community that represents the Company's main values and the commitment to society. We offer our employees annually more than 6,500 opportunities for collaboration through a trilingual online portal in Spanish, English and Portuguese. In recognition of this spirit of dedication, we celebrate every year our International Volunteer Day. The event takes place simultaneously in the main countries where the Group operates: Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Brazil and Mexico.
Renewable energies are one of the solutions to fight climate change and promote sustainable development. IBERDROLA is a world leader in wind energy. We are committed to wind energy as a clean source of job creation and technological development. We invite you to discover our installed wind capacity in the world and the innovation projects with which we promote its development.
Over 1 billion people have no access to essential power services, With the “Electricity for all” programme, we have contributed to over 1,400,000 people benefiting from access to electricity in emerging and developing countries. Our challenge and main goal is to bring electricity to 4,000,000 by the year 2020.
Heritage conservation and promotion of different forms of artistic expression are essential lines of the IBERDROLA social commitment and its patronage. Our art collection, built over time, houses works of Basque school, Spanish art, international pieces and samples of new media such as video. Share, disseminate and provide access to art is part of the IBERDROLA’s social responsibility exercise. We not only pay our art funds to institutional museum, but also organize exhibitions.
Committed to the environment and innovation, the IBERDROLA Bus invite you to learn in a playful and interactive way about renewable energies and how we can all look after the environment, with practical tips on how to use energy and resources in an efficient manner.
