The world is fully transitioning towards a sustainable energy model, which must be built on three fundamental pillars: competitiveness, safety of supply, and respect for the environment.
In addition, sustainability, understood as a business management concept, is developed around three founts: economic, social, and environmental.
Therefore, for a company like IBERDROLA, the environmental dimension is in the centre of the concept of sustainability. IBERDROLA acknowledges the importance of making respect for the environment one of the concepts that define the Company, and it is therefore encapsulated in the mission, vision and twelve values that inspire it, which are materialised in the Environmental policy [PDF], the Policy against Climate Change [PDF] and the Biodiversity Policy [PDF].
The fight against climate change and for sustainable development is atop IBERDROLA's most steadfast commitments, establishing an environmental target for reducing the intensity of its CO2 emissions under 150 grams per kWh by 2030, a figure that would be 50% lower than the specific emissions of the company in 2007. This goal is part of the company's leadership in renewable energies and its adherence to the main international agreements. In December, IBERDROLA has participated at the world's largest meeting on climate change at the Paris Climate Summit to explain its contribution to the solution for this looming environmental challenge. Each quarter the company also publishes specific information on its environmental indicators.
Our generation is today facing a major opportunity to halt climate change. In #Just2Challenge, we tell the story of one company's journey –IBERDROLA– and of the journey of society as a whole towards a sustainable future where global warming is history. IBERDROLA wishes to contribute its environmental commitment, its efforts and its support for renewable energies to building a world where everyone can live, with electricity for all. Our strategy against climate change currently tops the main international indices. You too can be part of this project for the future. Join the fight against climate change. Every action counts.
