The scholarships scheme for Master's and postgraduate studies in Energy and Environment has the aim of contributing towards excellence in training and research in the energy sector, in areas linked to renewable energies, environmental protection and combating climate change.

25 students will further their knowledge in these areas at Spanish universities and institutes of technology and 14 will do so at leading U.K. and U.S. centres.  The grant awarded includes the full cost of the tuition fees and a monthly allowance of €1,200, £1,200 OR $2,100, depending on location.

On the other hand, the Fundación IBERDROLA's  Energy for Research scheme will support the development of young researchers in the areas of sustainability and combating climate change.   The 10 researchers, who will carry out their studies at Spanish institutions, will receive a maximum grant of € 20,000 per project, which may not last more than one year.  This scheme is yet another step forward in the foundation's commitment to promoting the transformation of the energy model through technological development, the creation and dissemination of knowledge and support for research.

The students that will benefit from these grants awarded by the Fundación IBERDROLA were selected from among over 1,100 applicants on the basis of the criteria of academic excellence, the quality and feasibility of the programme of study, the experience accumulated by research teams, innovation and scientific-technical standards. About the Fundación IBERDROLA

The Fundación IBERDROLA, with Ignacio Galán as its Founding Trustee and Manuel Marín in the role of Chairman, focuses its activity in three main spheres of action: progress towards a sustainable energy model, cultural development in the countries where IBERDROLA operates and cooperation towards development and solidarity.

As well as the Energy and Environment postgraduate scholarships scheme and the Energy for Research scheme, the Foundation is also involved in various projects for the conservation of historic-artistic heritage.  Some of the highlights in this field are the Atlantic Romanesque Heritage Restoration Programme, which aims to restore 33 Romanesque temples located in the vicinity of the river Duero, and the sponsorship of the Prado National Museum Restoration Programme.

The Fundación IBERDROLA also carries out various activities in the field of biodiversity conservation and support for young researchers in R&D programmes, as well as initiatives involving cooperation and contribution towards development, such as the Energy for Solidarity grants scheme.
