Today, Ignacio Galán, the Chairman of IBERDROLA (sponsor of the Spanish national football team) congratulated the squad and Vicente del Bosque for yesterday’s victory against Holland in Johannesburg, which won them the title of champions of the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
Ignacio Galán congratulated the entire team for “their magnificent work, commitment and dedication under the leadership of Vicente del Bosque, which has led to an unprecedented success for Spanish sport”.
Galán said that everyone at IBERDROLA “is proud of supporting yet again a Spanish team that has defended the colours of one and all” and brought a new historic victory to Spain. IBERDROLA’s Chairman encouraged the Salamanca-born Vicente del Bosque and his team “to continue along the same path, which is what the whole country needs”.
Ignacio Galán also stressed that "this wind that has pushed us to this horizon will continue to blow in the same direction to carry us to new successes in the future”. “This news is just what the country needs,” he added.
Galán put much of yesterday’s win, which was enjoyed by all Spaniards, down to the leadership of a trainer such as Del Bosque who has instilled strong values in the team such as endeavour, generosity, commitment, tenacity, bravery and team work.
Thanks to its achievements during the tournament, the team has become the best ambassador for Spain anywhere in the world. On behalf of IBERDROLA, Ignacio Galán expressed “his heartfelt congratulations and appreciation for this historic page in Spanish sport”.
